VMA’S 2015

      The VMA’s were on Sunday, August 30, 2015 in Downtown Los Angeles. This year was the first time having a host in 2 years, the host this year was non other than Miley Cyrus. It was what some people would call a crazy night. There was many amazing performances by The Weeknd, Pharrell, Demi Lovato, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Tori Kelly, A$AP Rocky, Twenty One Pilots, Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj. During the pre-show, Nick Jonas and Walk The Moon performed. My favorite performance was by the young and beautiful Tori Kelly. But as you know there is always that one performance that's a bit awkward and one that is surprising. Now the one performance that was awkward to us all was when Justin Bieber performed “What do you mean ” and cried towards the ending of his performance. We all know you all would love to know why and we have your answer, a few days later he was spotted skateboarding and later seen on Jimmy Fallon's tv show and explains himself. He says that the last time he performed on a award show he was booed and to see that everyone supported him and was glad to see him made him very emotional. The performance in which I believe surprised us all was when Nicki Minaj opened the show and was joined by Taylor Swift as they sang together. As you all know they have not been on really good terms for a while and to see them performing together was quite relieving that the queen of pop and the queen of rap were friends again. We do on the other hand also are questioning if Nicki made a friend and made a new enemy on the same night. As you know Nicki Minaj won the award for “Best Hip-Hop Video” with her song Anaconda, and as she was accepting the award she called Miley cyrus out. Nicki turned to Miley and said “Now, back to this bi***, that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press,” and Miley came back to say “We are all in this industry, we all do interviews and we all know how they manipulate s***. Nicki congradu-fuc****-lations” and she turned around and moved on with the show. Many people say that this was staged but many people say it was not. The last most important event was when Kanye West accepted his award and gave his 13 minute speech. He talked on how he thinks that award shows are pointless and ridiculous. He started to explain why by saying that no one deserves to lose because everyone tries their best to come out with the best music possible and for them to lose and feel like all their hard work was pointless is stupid. He also made the most controversial comment of the night by stating that he will be running for president in 2020.  

Jessica Sanchez
